Employee retention strategies

Employee retention: It is a process of encouraging the employees to work with the organization for maximum time period or until the completion of the project. Let us first understand why there is retention as given below:
1. Lack of clarity about expectations
2. Lack of clarity about earning potential
3. Lack of feedback about performance
4. Failure to hold scheduled meetings
5. Failure to provide a framework within which the employee perceives he/she can succeed.

Does the organization solicit ideas and provide an environment in which people are comfortable providing feedback? If so, employees offer ideas, feel free to criticize and commit to continuous improvement. If not, they bite their tongues or find themselves constantly "in trouble" - until they leave. How many people could contribute far more than they currently do? You just need to know their skills, talent and experience, and take the time to tap into it. Let’s understand why there is work Pressure & long stretch working hours Use the root cause analysis method by asking 5 whys for the reason of work pressure Some of the reasons may be as below:

1) Improper allocation of resources
2) Low skilled employees
3) No proper setting of priorities
4) Poor communication with internal & external client
5) No cushion time kept
6) Lack in Planning
7) Uneven distribution of work.
8) Not working as per standards, roles & responsibilities
9) Less Team work
10) Disaster management not done.
11) Not understanding the PUV (pursued used values) etc..

After identifying the cause prepare the action plan as given below & implement it but while implementing we need to take care of retention of employees.
1. Ensure managers have the time to manage well.
2. Help managers improve their own skills.
3. Provide greater levels of company information and more open communication among
     managers and  senior leadership.
4. The easiest to solve, and the ones most affecting employee retention, are tools, time and training

Conclusion: If proper planning is done with best HR practices along with Team work & the stress is reduced in work pressure the employees will give their maximum output with best quality work. As providing care, Trust & support to employees increases their productivity & attrition is reduces which results in companies as well as employees collective growth.
